Rotaract

Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18 and older to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service. In communities worldwide, Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side to take action through service. From big cities to rural villages, Rotaract is changing communities.

The Rotaract Club of Knysna was chartered in 2023, with 8 founder members being inducted at a Rotary lunch on 20 June. Rotaractors have:

  • Assisted with the Lagoon Splash fundraiser organised by Rotary.
  • Manned two water tables at the 100km Running for School Shoes Charity Run, which led to over 100 pairs of school shoes being donated to needy children.
  • Commemorated International Rotaract Week by educating local youngsters about the sensitivity of the Knysna Estuary and Forest, working in partnership with SANParks.
  •  Initiated chess lessons in the northern areas and IT training at the Hornlee Training Centre.
  • Assisted at the Knysna Cycle Tour.
  • Arranged a forest walk for children from the Dorothy Broster Youth and Childcare Centre.
  • Collaborated with local beauty salons to help needy girls with their nails for  Matric Farewells.
